Hangzhou Day 1

Hangzhou (hang-chow), about 100 km from Shanghai is the  largest city of Zhejiang Province in Eastern China.  I arrived here early in the morning and walked around mostly in the historical Hefang area, which is mostly quiet during the day due to the fact that vehicles, other than mopeds or bicycles, are not allowed on the streets.  The scale and natural pattern of the streets combined with the use of natural materials in the buildings gives this area a quality that many small older European cities have.
